■ Deborah Templer has joined McCarthy Tétrault as an equity partner in the firm’s Toronto office. Templer’s practice is focused on multi-faceted commercial concerns, with class actions that include securities, medical defence, as well as occupier and product liability.

■ David Tang and Peter Dunne are new partners in Miller Thomson’s Toronto office, while Michael Arbutina joins the firm’s Markham office. Tang’s practice focuses on municipal, land development and planning law. He is the chair of the non-profit organizations committee of the American Bar Association. Dunne joins the firm’s capital markets and mergers and acquisitions groups. His practice deals with the Canadian investment industry, combining his expertise in securities regulatory matters, fund formation and capital raising. Arbutina has worked primarily in the areas of commercial and construction litigation, including construction liens, shareholder disputes, real estate/lease enforcement, debt collection, breach of contract claims and class action defence.

■ WeirFoulds has added two new partners, Heather Douglas and Vickie Wong. Douglas will work in the municipal and infrastructure and public projects groups. She has extensive experience in complex financial transactions involving municipalities, provincial and territorial government bodies, Crown corporations and school boards. Wong joins the corporate group. She has experience in acting for both borrowers and lenders in a variety of domestic and cross-border debt financing arrangements.
