Peter Griffin, managing partner at Lenczner Slaght Royce Smith Griffin LLP, was named winner of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) Award of Excellence in Civil Litigation, and will be honoured at a reception in November.

The award recognizes outstanding OBA members for their contributions and achievements in one or more of the following areas: outstanding advocacy skills, professionalism, integrity and civility, teaching of civil litigation and practice, the enhancement of the practice of civil litigation, and leadership in the civil litigation bar.

Griffin has influenced many lawyers as a teacher at various law schools, legal associations, conferences and symposia, and in his day-to-day work with young counsel. His peers recognize his advocacy skill, professionalism, integrity and civility to be among the finest in the country.

“Where oral advocacy carries the day, Peter’s skills are virtually unmatched," said Peter J. Osborne, partner at Lenczner Slaght. “He manages to balance respect for the court or tribunal with the fulfilment of his duty to respectfully but firmly advance his client’s position.”

“Peter Griffin demonstrates excellence in all that he does; not just as a superb advocate, but as a significant contributor of his time and effort to the profession, the administration of justice and individual colleagues,” said Barry Weintraub, past chair of the Civil Litigation Section at the OBA.

Griffin will be honoured at an award dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto (181 Wellington St. W.).
