Counsel to get remote access to embargoed SCC judgments

The Supreme Court of Canada has decided to give the lawyers who argue its most newsworthy appeals an advance look — under embargo — at the ensuing judgments.

In an effort “to better facilitate accurate and informed reporting of the court’s judgments,” the Supreme Court announced May 17 two important changes to its “lockup” process that began in 2003, on a pilot project basis, at the request of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery.
