Newfoundland and Labrador to introduce drug treatment court in 2018

The Newfoundland and Labrador government will introduce a drug treatment court pilot project in 2018, the first of its kind in the province.

Justice and Public Safety Minister Andrew ParsonsThe drug treatment court (DTC) will handle offenders who commit non-violent, drug-motivated offences. The DTC was recommended for the province in a feasibility study looking into whether the province should have such a court.
