Enzo Rondinelli, a lawyer with Lafontaine & Associates in Toronto, has been named winner of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) Award of Excellence in Criminal Justice.

Rondinelli, who was called to the bar in 1997, graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1995 and has been an adjunct professor there since 2003. He’s also been a director of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association for the past four years.

The award recognizes outstanding OBA members for their contributions and achievements in one or more of the following areas: legal education and professional development, including lecturing, academic or professional writing; participation in the OBA Criminal Justice Section executive or Law Society of Upper Canada on criminal law matters; leadership in the criminal justice bar by acting as a role model and mentor for new members of the profession and to his or her peers; community-based pro bono work; and development of the criminal law legislative framework.

"Enzo is unquestionably one of our finest criminal law advocates, successfully arguing some of the most important criminal and constitutional law cases in recent years before both the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada,” said Brock Jones, an assistant Crown attorney. “As a friend and mentor to me over the years, Enzo represents the absolute best the criminal bar has to offer, and as Crown counsel, there is no one I see as a more powerful advocate for an accused person."

Rondinelli will be honoured at a dinner on June 7 at Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events.
