CCLA says Ottawa's distribution ban on controversial newspaper unconstitutional

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) says the federal government cannot prevent a controversial newspaper from being distributed through the mail due to Charter protections on freedom of speech and expression.

Jessica Orkin, Goldblatt Partners LLP On May 26, 2016, then-federal minister responsible for Canada Post Judy Foote, issued an interim prohibitory order (IPO) under the Canada Post Act preventing James Sears and Laurence St. Germaine, and their publication Your Ward News from sending any future mail through Canada Post.
