Katelyn Ellins and Sydney Kert are the newest associates at DLA Piper (Canada) LLP as it expands its Toronto office.

Ellins, who graduated with a law degree from Dalhousie University in 2015, joined Voorheis & Co. LLP in Toronto a year ago as an associate. She practises in the areas of commercial litigation and general corporate and securities law, and she has experience in disputes concerning fraud and misrepresentation in public disclosure, proxy contests and contested transactions.

Kert was an associate at Owens Wright LLP in Toronto beginning in 2012, after obtaining a law degree from Queen’s University in 2011. Her practice focuses on corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on corporate finance and public and private mergers and acquisitions. She has experience in a variety of corporate and securities matters, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, mergers and acquisitions and reverse takeovers.

DLA Piper, a global law firm with lawyers in more than 40 countries, entered Canada just two years ago when it merged with Vancouver-based Davis LLP, which was founded in 1892. It was rebranded as DLA Piper (Canada) LLP. The firm now has six offices in Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Yellowknife.
