Sigurdson honoured posthumously at CGCA for lifetime achievement

Stephen Sigurdson, who was executive vice-president and general counsel at Manulife until his death last November, was honoured posthumously for lifetime achievement at the 2017 Canadian General Counsel Awards, which were handed out in Toronto on June 15.

The award has been renamed the BLG Stephen Sigurdson Lifetime Achievement Award to honour the former partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt who died after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 56.

The CGCA, presented by ZSA Legal Recruitment and the National Post, is Canada’s national program designed to recognize excellence in the in-house counsel community.

The event brings together the senior members of the country’s private bar and the leading in-house counsel to mark the accomplishments of the Canadian legal profession over the past year.
