Thomas Surmanski has joined Robichaud’s as an associate counsel.

Surmanski graduated magna cum laude from Carleton University with a bachelor of arts in criminology and criminal justice. He then obtained his juris doctor from Queen’s University, before completing his articles at a litigation boutique in Toronto.

During law school, Thomas fostered his interest in advocacy by volunteering with ACORN Canada and as a caseworker in Queen’s Legal Aid. He was actively involved in his school community as a member of the Queen’s Law “Tortfeasors” rugby team and as an executive of In Vino Veritas.

Surmanski's background in law and criminology, along with his experience working at a variety of legal settings including the federal government and mediation, provides him with a unique perspective when analyzing legal issues and negotiation. In 2016, he published a paper with the Cambridge Law Review in England titled “Mosh Pits or Liability Pits? Criminal and Tort Liability at Concerts."

Surmanski has a particular focus on client relations, legal research and writing and advanced litigation preparation
