Updated: Ordinary psychological impact of job termination not compensable, BCCA rules

The British Columbia Court of Appeal has set aside an award for aggravated damages in a case involving a claim of mental distress caused by a wrongful dismissal.

In 2015, Marco Lau sought damages for wrongful dismissal in Lau v. Royal Bank of Canada 2015 BCSC 1639 after his employment with the Royal Bank of Canada was terminated.
