Daigle appointed associate deputy minister of justice

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that François Daigle has been appointed associate deputy minister of justice, effective July 31.

He has been assistant secretary to the cabinet, social development policy, in the Privy Council Office, for the past two years.

Daigle, who has a bachelor of arts in economics from McGill University and a law degree from Université de Moncton, served as assistant deputy justice minister from 2012 to 2015, and assistant deputy minister, business and regulatory law portfolio, with the Justice Department from 2009 to 2012.

Before that, he spent four years, from 2005 to 2009, as executive director and senior general counsel with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and was general counsel with Health Canada legal services from 1998 to 2005.
