Legal Aid Ontario to cease funding African Canadian Legal Clinic in September

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) has decided to defund the African Canadian Legal Clinic (ACLC) as of Sept. 30 after its dispute resolution process revealed "financial mismanagement" at the clinic.

Julian Falconer, Falconers LLPFeroneh Neil, a spokesperson for LAO, said in 2016-17, the ACLC received $669,729.45 from legal aid, which is about 35 per cent of the clinic’s operating budget.
