Shevaun McGrath has joined the Toronto office of McCarthy Tétrault as an equity partner and co-head of the firm’s national private equity group. She will be assisting clients with their M&A and private equity opportunities, both domestically and cross-border.

"Shevaun is a tremendous addition to our firm and we are thrilled that she has chosen to bring her M&A and private equity practice to McCarthy Tétrault,” Cam Belsher, partner and head of the M&A group, said in a news release.

"She has an exceptional market reputation as a pragmatic and energetic lawyer with a deep understanding of the M&A and private equity markets in Canada and the United States. Her instincts and practical experience in getting deals done will be a real advantage for our clients."

McGrath, who received her law degree from Queen’s University in 1998, was called to the bar in Ontario in 2000 and in New York a year later. She joined Goodmans LLP in 2000, and was a partner in the securities and corporate law group and co-head of the firm’s private equity group.

Dave Leonard, McCarthy Tétrault’s CEO, said McGrath’s “proven ability to assist firms who manage and deploy large pools of capital in finding and executing on market opportunities, in addition to her leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit, will complement our national team.”
