Dentons announced expansion of the firm's nationally ranked public policy team in Atlanta on Aug. 28 with the addition of Elmer Stancil and Robert Sills.

Stancil, who joins as a senior managing director, moves from Georgia's State Road and Tollway Authority and Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) where he served as deputy executive director.  He brings leadership capabilities in transportation and economic development policy, advocacy and relationship management with stakeholders across Georgia.

At GRTA Stancil led the strategic vision for its internal departments; managed finance solutions for local communities; and co-ordinated with the governor's office and Georgia General Assembly on recommendations for transit governance strategies and transit funding models.

Immediately prior to GRTA, he served as director of government relations and policy at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, where he worked with Georgia's leaders and policy-makers to build support for and execute economic development initiatives across the state.

Sills, who joins as an associate, worked for the General Assembly as policy director and in-house counsel for the Georgia House Democratic Caucus where he drafted legislation, analyzed policy proposals and research and served as a liaison to state and local governments, external interest groups, law enforcement agencies and lobbyists.

"As the intersection of business, politics and policy continues to narrow, Elmer and Robert bring unique experience that will make them great assets to our clients across the state," said Eric Tanenblatt, chair of Dentons U.S. public policy team. "We welcome them to our growing Atlanta team."
