Both George Tai and Lillian Y. Pan are fluent in Mandarin, which Dentons sees beneficial for clients interested in undertaking business opportunities in China.

In the corporate group, Tai will work on mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance and corporate/commercial transactions, primarily in the energy and technology sectors. He has over 20 years of experience acting as an adviser to both public and private companies. He also served as the chief operating officer of a multinational NASDAQ-listed software company and was co-founder of a multinational NASDAQ-listed software company. Tai is also experienced in structuring and negotiating international commercial transactions.

On the international front, Tai has advised Canadians on Asian-based transactions and worked with Asian-based clients who needed investment and business advice for their Canadian projects.

Working in the dispute resolution group, Pan will undertake on commercial litigation, business litigation, securities, product liability, energy and employment litigation cases. In her 30 years of experience as a litigator, she has appeared before many levels of court, including the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court and the Federal Court; as well as the Alberta Securities Commission and the Ontario Securities Commission.

“We are delighted to welcome George and Lillian to our Calgary office,” said Don Leitch, managing partner of Dentons’ Calgary office. “Their entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic and personalities will strengthen the group and provide additional opportunities for our associates and junior partners.”
