Federal government plan to increase bilingual judges called a 'timely update'

The federal government has announced an action plan to increase the bilingual capacity of the nation's superior court judiciary.

Francis Poulin, Power LawJustice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould announced the seven-point action plan Sept. 25. It includes strategies for enhanced tools to verify and assess the bilingual capacity of judicial applicants, examine language training for current members of the judiciary and confirmation of the federal government's commitment to collaborative consultations with provincial chief justices with respect to the bilingual capacity needs of their courts.
