Why custody disputes end in tragedy — and how children can be protected

There is no typical custody battle, but it is safe to say that most are fraught with high emotions, control issues, hostility and likely a forgetfulness when it comes to the best interests of the child or children.

While all custody battles are tragedies, it is the rare case where the tragedy involves a child abduction and death of one or both parents. Recently in the news, we watched as an amber alert from Quebec ended in this type of tragedy. The abducted child was safe...
