MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. names general counsel

Following the acquisition of Westminster, Colo.-based DigitalGlobe Inc., MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) of Richmond, B.C., has made a number of executive appointments.

Michelle Kley is taking on the role of general counsel in addition to being appointed senior vice-president and corporate secretary for the company. Since 2016, Kley has been senior vice-president and chief legal and compliance officer and secretary of SSL MDA Holdings, Inc. (MDA's U.S.-based holding company for its subsidiaries) and before that she was vice-president of legal for MDA's SSL business unit. Prior to joining MDA, Kley focused on mergers and acquisitions for a number of San Francisco-based law firms.

Another executive with a new position is Daniel Jablonsky, who was named as president of DigitalGlobe. Jablonsky previously served as senior vice-president and general counsel of DigitalGlobe in addition to being the general manager of the U.S. and international defence and intelligence businesses. His legal background is in working on mergers and acquisitions, international joint ventures and securities and corporate finance with two U.S.-based law firms.

MDA is a communications and information company that provides surveillance and intelligence services for government clients. DigitalGlobe is a satellite imaging company.
