B.C. reappoints Public Guardian and Trustee

The current Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) of British Columbia, Catherine Romanko will be serving in the role for a second term.

With a mandate to protect the legal and financial interests of children under 19, to protect the legal, financial and health care interests of adults who require assistance in decision-making and to administer the estates of deceased and missing persons, Romanko was originally appointed as PGT in October 2011 after acting as deputy PGT since 2001. Her current mandate is for six years.

Romanko has a background in wills, estates and guardianship law. She is past president of the National Association of Public Trustees and Guardians as well as being a member of the Vancouver wills and trusts and elder law sections of the Canadian Bar Association and a regular contributor to continuing legal education programs.
