In July 2016, the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family studied the attitudes and opinions of participants of the National Family Law Program in a project funded by the federal Department of Justice and the Alberta Law Foundation. The lawyers who responded to the institute’s survey were senior, having been called to the bar for an average of almost 20 years, and they devoted an average of almost 85 per cent of their practices to family law matters.
