Schindelka is a partner in DLA Piper's Calgary’s office and specializes in the areas of litigation and dispute resolution. He has also been a board member of the CBA Wellness Forum for 11 years and previously served as chair. Additionally, Schindelka has been a director of the Alberta Lawyers’ Assistance Society for 12 years and once chaired the organization. He also served as a director of the Saskatchewan Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers board for 11 years.

The CBA Wellness Forum works with lawyer assistance programs across Canada to help lawyers, judges and law students manage wellness challenges to lead healthy, balanced lives. The annual award of excellence recognizes an individual who has displayed knowledge, compassion and dedication to improving the lives of Canadian lawyers.

“The business of practising law gets more demanding every day. While it is a rewarding profession, the accompanying stress and pressure can be quite challenging,” said Schindelka.

“Having access to peer support and wellness resources can make a significant difference in avoiding burnout, and I am pleased to be able to play a role in helping lawyers achieve balance between their professional and personal lives.”

DLA Piper’s Canada managing partner Robert Seidel praised Schindelka.

“We are inspired by dedicated practitioners such as Dana who are not only leaders in their fields but also tireless advocates for the betterment of the profession,” he said.

“Work-life balance is a core objective of our people-first mandate, and we remain committed to providing a healthy workplace where all firm members receive the support they need to achieve professional success and personal growth.”
