New family court position for Justice Douglas

Tuesday, November 14, 2017 @ 3:13 PM | By Carolyn Gruske

Justice Peter A. Douglas who has been a judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario, now has some new duties. He has been named as a member of the family court in Barrie.

The role is a new one authorized under Bill C-44 the Budget Implementation Act, 2017, No. 1. Because the chief justice of the Superior Court of Justice transferred Justice Douglas’ general patent vacancy to Lindsay (Central East Region), his new appointment represents an increase to Central East Region’s complement of family court judges.
