Bennett Jones adds Schmidt as partner in Edmonton

Bennett Jones announced on Nov. 14 that Jim Schmidt has joined the firm as a litigation partner in the Edmonton office.

Schmidt practises commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on fraud and asset recovery matters.

“Jim is a tremendous addition to Bennett Jones and our Edmonton office. He will provide great value to our clients and his work in fraud law includes recovery in the largest-ever known Ponzi scheme in British Columbia,” said Hugh MacKinnon, chairman and CEO of Bennett Jones.

Schmidt brings 20 years of experience as a partner and leader at prominent Canadian law firms.

He is a past adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and a past co-chair of the International Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association, B.C. Branch.
