MLT Aikins partner named judge in Saskatchewan

Robert Leurer has been appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan in Regina.

A partner at MLT Aikins LLP, Justice Leurer is a litigator whose practice focused on product liability and class actions, especially in the areas of commercial, insurance, personal injury, privacy, constitutional and administrative law. He has argued before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court and courts throughout western Canada.

He has been president of the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan branch, and regional chair for the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute, as well as a member of the Canadian Bar Association national class actions task force and the board of directors of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies. Justice Leurer is also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

He replaces Justice Alison R. Rothery, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective Dec. 31, 2015.
