SCC's examination of Hague Convention on child abduction has global interest

Canada’s highest court heard an appeal last month on the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction for the first time in more than two decades.

The case of Office of the Children's Lawyer v. John Paul Balev began with Hague proceedings involving children who are Canadian citizens but were born in Germany and were living in Germany at the time of their parents’ separation.
