Peter A Wong, a partner in the tax group of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Vancouver office, has been elected as an international fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

Wong, who specializes in Canadian tax issues advises domestic and international clients on the Canadian income tax aspects of estate planning, wealth management, corporate reorganizations and investments in Canadian real estate or businesses, was the only Canadian in this year’s group of international fellows.

Membership qualifications in ACTEC require lawyers to have at least 10 years of experience in the active practice of probate and trust law or estate planning. Fellows are elected based on their reputations, skills and contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching and participating in bar leadership or legislative activities.

Wong is noted for developing tax-efficient solutions for Canadians leaving Canada as well as for Canadians investing abroad.
