Saskatchewan to offer free legal advice to survivors of sexual violence

Officials in Saskatchewan are hoping to combat that province’s high rate of sexual violence by having lawyers give free legal advice to survivors.

Set to launch sometime in 2018 as a four-year pilot project, the program will be operated by the Public Legal Education Association of Saskatchewan (PLEA) and Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Justice through funding from the federal government. It will serve victims of all types of sexual violence, including sexual assault and harassment.
