McCarthy Tétrault renews legal ethics program at Queen’s

For the next three years, McCarthy Tétrault LLP will once again be the sponsor of a program at Queen’s University designed to teach and promote legal ethics.

The firm has renewed a $105,000 commitment to support the McCarthy Tétrault LLP Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility program — a program originally created in 2014.

It consists of an annual public lecture, two doctoral fellowships, expert panel presentations to first-year students and a course prize.

“This program has been a vital and integral part of legal education at Queen’s,” said Tom Harrison, the original McCarthy Tétrault fellow and program director. “It has also emphasized the significance of ethical and professional challenges that confront everyone in Canadian law today.”

The dean of the law school, Bill Flanagan, expressed his appreciation for the commitment.

“McCarthy Tétrault has been a leader in supporting legal ethics and professionalism at Queen’s law,” he said. “I am most grateful for the firm’s ongoing and generous support of the school.”
