The issue of sexual assault is becoming increasingly visible in Canadian society and beyond. The #MeToo movement, recently named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2017, recognizes women in the film and entertainment industry for breaking the silence on the pervasiveness of sexual assault and coercion in that field, building upon decades of work by feminists and anti-violence activists to expose the scale of the problem.
