Technology expert becomes Bereskin & Parr partner

Paul Horbal has been admitted into partnership at Bereskin & Parr LLP.

Horbal is a member of the firm’s electrical and computer technology group. He also chairs the financial technology group. In addition to his law degree, Horbal has a master’s degree in electrical engineering.

His practice areas include computer technology, clean tech, financial technology, and industrial designs and patents, with an emphasis on securing and leveraging intellectual property rights for high-tech and fintech clients.

Horbal has prepared and filed patent applications relating to block chain technology, payment processing, telecommunications systems, integrated circuits, digital signal processing, biomedical and biomonitoring devices, power systems and power electronics, and computer networks and software.

His practice includes clients of all sizes, but Horbal has an affinity for working with startups and entrepreneurs.

Horbal is former chair of the Toronto Intellectual Property Group and is a current member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
