New members join Ontario Securities Commission committees

A number of lawyers have recently become part of two Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) committees.

The securities proceedings advisory committee (SPAC) advises the office of the secretary about policy and procedural initiatives relating to proceedings before the OSC’s administrative tribunal. All SPAC members must be members of the Law Society of Ontario and practise securities litigation.

This year’s additions to SPAC are Daniel Bach, a partner at Siskinds LLP; Susan Kushneryk, a partner at Hansell LLPRyan Morris, a partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP; Bruce O’Toole, a partner at Crawley MacKewn Brush LLP; and Laura Paglia, a partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP.

The securities advisory committee (SAC) has four new members as of January 2018. Anita Anand holds a number of titles at the University of Toronto’s faculty of law, including J.R. Kimber chair in investor protection and corporate governance, and academic director of the Centre for the Legal Profession and Program on Ethics in Law and Business. Margaret Gunawan is head of Canada legal and compliance at BlackRock Asset Management Canada Limited. Barbara Hendrickson is CEO and founder of Bax Securities LawBlair Wiley is a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.
