Judges appointed in Manitoba

Monday, February 26, 2018 @ 2:22 PM | By Carolyn Gruske

Julie Frederickson and Kusham Sharma have been named as judges with the provincial court of Manitoba.

Before being placed on the bench, Justice Frederickson held positions with the City of Winnipeg’s legal services department, where she worked as a solicitor, and with the provincial government, where she was assistant deputy attorney general with the civil law division and then deputy minister of justice and deputy attorney general from 2015 to 2017.

Justice Sharma was a Crown attorney with the Manitoba Prosecution Service from 2003 to 2014. Following that, she was a senior adviser to the deputy minister of justice and deputy attorney general of Manitoba before becoming the executive director of the innovation and restorative justice branch of Manitoba Justice.

“The role of a judge with the provincial court is among the most important in Manitoba’s justice system,” said Justice Minister Heather Stefanson.

“I am confident these two distinguished individuals will maintain the integrity of the office and uphold the rule of law for all Manitobans.”

Both will serve in Winnipeg.
