B.C. Law Society finishes 2017 with higher than expected revenue, membership

The Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC) saw an increase in membership in 2017 beyond what was originally anticipated, leading to higher than expected revenues for the provincial legal regulator.

According to a report delivered by chief financial officer Jeannette McPhee at the law society’s benchers meeting on March 2, the society’s general fund (which covers the operations of the society excluding capital funding) had total revenue of $24.7 million, which was $880,000 more than was projected in the 2017 budget.
