B.C. fills three judicial vacancies

British Columbia has put three new people on the bench, filling vacancies created by retirements.
Jeremy Guild, George Leven and Kristen Mundstock have all been named as provincial court judges.
Justice Guild, whose appointment took effect March 12, 2018, has been in private practice, handling criminal, civil and family law. He has also worked as duty counsel for the Drug Treatment Court of Vancouver, as prosecutor for the Department of Justice in Burnaby and as a lawyer with the Legal Services Society in Burnaby and Vancouver. Justice Guild has presented at conferences and training workshops on the topic of innovative approaches for drug treatment courts and restorative justice. He will be assigned to the interior region.
Justice Leven’s appointment goes into effect on March 27. He began his career at the former Prince George law firm Hope Heinrich as an articling student and eventually progressed to partner. Justice Leven left the firm in 2003 to start his own practice. He is experienced in Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) defence, family law, federal prosecutions and criminal defence. Justice Leven has sat on the boards of the Prince George Activator Society and the Northern John Howard Society. He will be assigned to the northern region.
Justice Mundstock’s appointment also took effect on March 12. She has spent her career at Patten Thornton (formerly Patten, MacDonald and Crabtree), where she began as an articling student and now holds the title of partner. Justice Mundstock has worked in criminal law, estates, human rights law and other areas of the law, but her most recent interest is in family law and civil litigation. She has served as secretary and president of the Chilliwack & District Bar Association. Justice Mundstock will be assigned to the Fraser region.
