Borden Ladner Gervais expands team

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP has added new partners and associates.

Sarah Bird and Jeff Mitchell are the firm’s latest partners.

Bird has joined the Vancouver office in the corporate commercial group, where she will work in areas of banking and financial services, infrastructure, and Aboriginal law with a focus on project development, project finance, lending and general corporate commercial law. She was previously at Miller Titerle + Company.

Mitchell is in the Toronto office where he practises labour and employment law. His specialties include advising both unionized and non-unionized clients about employment issues arising on the sale or acquisition of a business; training on all aspects of employment law; and arguing cases before the courts and administrative tribunals. He was previously at Dentons Canada LLP.

Krstina Skocic returns to BLG as a senior associate after being seconded to a major international corporation and after working as legal counsel in the corporate finance branch of the Ontario Securities Commission. She works in the Toronto office’s securities and capital markets group where she focuses on corporate finance including public and private equity and debt financings, as well as mergers and corporate governance matters.

Rae Deulrae Min has been hired as an associate in the competition and foreign investment review group in Toronto. Fluent in Korean, she was previously senior legal counsel at a Korean multinational electronics company. She will advise clients on all aspects of Canadian competition and foreign investment law.
