Cassels Brock associate gets Advocates’ Society appointment

Christopher Horkins has been named as secretary of The Advocates’ Society’s young advocates standing committee (YASC) for the 2018–2019 year.

Horkins, who is an an associate in the advocacy group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP where he has a broad commercial litigation practice including franchise, product liability, securities litigation, insolvency and class actions defence, will serve as a committee executive for a total of three years.

After acting as secretary, Horkins will have the responsibility of being vice-chair during the 2019–2020 year and then chair for the final year of his term.

He has been a member of the YASC committee since 2013 and has helped organize networking events, charitable and pro bono initiatives and assisted with the society’s submissions and interventions on various issues and court cases.

YASC’s goal is to promote the interests of advocacy lawyers in their first 10 years of practice.
