Thursday, April 05, 2018 @ 1:44 PM | By Carolyn Gruske

Nivedhya (Nivi) Ramaswamy is the latest associate to join DLA Piper (Canada) LLP.

Working in the Toronto office, Ramaswamy is now part of the firm’s litigation, arbitration and investigations group.

Ramaswamy previously worked at a national full-service firm where she acted for private and public companies, condominium corporations, investment groups and individuals. At DLA Piper, she will continue her commercial litigation practice and will focus on complex engineering-related matters including professional negligence, product liability, construction law, environmental law and insurance coverage issues.

Before studying law, Ramaswamy was a remediation engineer in a U.S.-based engineering consulting firm, where she was involved in a number of hazardous waste cleanup projects. She is able to create 3D computer renderings of subsurface environments to help visualize these environments and tackle site cleanups.

Ramaswamy serves on the editorial board of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review, and on the executive committee of Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group. She also volunteers as a legal and business adviser for the Cleantech Venture Services Group at MaRS Discovery District.
