L. Bernette Ho has been named as a judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta in Calgary.

Justice Ho is a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP where she handles a wide variety of litigation and regulatory matters. She primarily acts for provincially regulated employers in relation to employment, human rights, privacy and disability matters. Justice Ho also took on cases involving litigation and regulatory matters, particularly in relation to the electricity industry, for energy company clients.

Justice Ho was actively involved in managing the firm and served on its articling committee and promotions committee. She was also the practice group leader for the Calgary employment and labour group.

As a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Justice Ho served on the professional responsibility committee and the conduct committee. She has also been a volunteer with the Alberta Bar Admission Course, and, at the time of her appointment, she was a member of the board of the Legal Education Society of Alberta.

She replaces Justice Alan D. Macleod, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective Aug. 31, 2017.
