Aphria Inc., a company based in Leamington, Ont., that produces, supplies and sells medical cannabis, has appointed a number of executives to its management team, including somebody to oversee its legal affairs.

Christelle Gedeon is now Aphria’s chief legal officer.

Gedeon holds both a law degree from McGill University and a doctorate in clinical pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Toronto. Most recently, she was a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, where she focused on the life sciences industry and advised clients on intellectual property matters and regulated products under the Food and Drugs Act

“We are delighted to bring Christelle’s extensive knowledge and experience in regulatory affairs and specifically the cannabis industry in Canada in-house,” said Aphria CEO Vic Neufeld.

“It's a big win for Aphria to have someone of Christelle’s calibre on our leadership team, and we are looking forward to benefiting from her expertise and guidance as the cannabis industry continues to evolve.”
