Wednesday, May 02, 2018 @ 1:05 PM | By Carolyn Gruske

Justice Esther Rosenberg of the Ontario Court of Justice will soon be taking on additional responsibilities.

As of June 1, 2018, she will be the regional senior judge in the central east region, where she currently presides.

Before joining the bench in 2010, Justice Rosenberg was a partner and trial litigator at Rosenberg, Pringle. Justice Rosenberg has also served as director of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and as a member of the Justices of the Peace Review Council.

She will replace Justice Simon Armstrong, who will be presiding full-time in Newmarket, Ont.

In Ontario, the Courts of Justice Act provides that regional senior judges are appointed for a three-year term and with a possible renewal of three years, for a maximum tenure as a regional senior judge of six years. Once a regional senior judge’s term ends they return to preside as a puisne judge of the court.
