Law Society of Ontario commits to improving regulatory, hearing processes for Indigenous peoples

The Law Society of Ontario (LSO) has approved a series of recommendations to reform the regulatory and hearing processes impacting Indigenous peoples in an effort to enhance cultural competency across the profession.

The recommendations, brought forward by a review panel established by treasurer Paul Schabas in June 2017, were developed through extensive consultation with Indigenous communities, the law society’s professional regulation division staff, as well as the chair and vice-chair of the Law Society Tribunal.
