CBA toolkit helps family lawyers guide separating partners through tax issues

Navigating a separation or divorce can be complicated enough without having to figure out how tax rules apply to a new family dynamic. The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) realized that and collaborated with Justice Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Finance Canada to update its tax toolkit for family lawyers.

The Tax Matters Toolkit, originally created in 2014, was recently updated to cover some of the more complex issues family lawyers deal with while helping their clients through a divorce.
