Dates set for next month’s ‘Legal Advice-A-Thon’ in B.C.

Thursday, August 23, 2018 @ 9:51 AM | By John Chunn

September marks the 11th anniversary of Access Pro Bono’s annual free legal advice-a-thon that raises awareness and much needed funds for the provision of pro bono legal services in British Columbia.

Clients will be low-and modest-income individuals, including homeless people who may otherwise have limited access to traditional free legal advice clinics. Most clients will have pre-scheduled appointments, while others will simply drop in for free legal advice on a wide range of issues.

The Surrey legal clinic is Sept. 5. The Vancouver legal clinics will be held on two separate dates — the first at Victoria Square Park on Sept. 7 and the second at the Vancouver Art Gallery — North Plaza on Sept. 12.

Both days will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A telephone clinic will also be held Sept. 14 for those unable to make it to the outdoor clinics which will allow volunteers to reach even more people in need of legal advice across the province.

Harper Grey is a title sponsor for the event for the fifth consecutive year and also has numerous lawyers from the firm volunteering their time to provide free legal advice on the above dates.

The firm urges all to consider volunteering in this year’s Legal Advice-A-Thon to help raise much needed funds for Access Pro Bono’s vital programs.
