Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP announced that Michel Gélinas has joined the firm as a partner in its Montreal office.

Gélinas’ practice focuses on advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and corporate finance, both in Canada and internationally.

“Michel’s reputation as a leading practitioner providing exceptional business-focused advice to his Canadian, U.S. and international clients strengthens our firm’s ability to counsel clients on cross-border and international transactions,” said Philippe Johnson, managing partner, Montreal.

“I am excited by the opportunity to bring my cross-border experience to Davies and to grow my practice in a firm known for, among other things, its client-centric approach to the delivery of the highest quality legal services,” said Gélinas.

Gélinas graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor of commerce in 1988. He obtained his L.L.B. in 1991 from the University of Montreal and was called to the Quebec bar in 1992. In 1994 he received his master’s in finance and international business from McGill University.
