DMG Advocates adds litigation associate

DMG Advocates LLP announced that Corey Groper has joined as an associate, practising corporate commercial litigation.

Prior to joining the Toronto litigation firm in 2018, Groper spent four years as an associate lawyer at a litigation boutique firm in Ottawa, where he worked on a diverse array of files, including employment litigation, shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims, commercial leasing matters and a variety of contractual disputes.

Groper completed his legal studies at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, where he received joint degrees in civil and common law. He appeared on the dean’s honours list during the course of his legal studies and was awarded the Éditions Yvon Blais Prize for outstanding achievement in Ontario civil procedure.

Following his articles at a litigation firm in Toronto, he served as a clerk to a New York City judge.

Groper obtained his LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2012, where he specialized in corporate and commercial law. He graduated from the London School of Economics with highest honours and was awarded the Blackstone Chambers Prize for receiving the highest overall average in his specialty.

In addition to his legal practice, Groper spent three years as a professor at the University of Montreal, Faculty of Law, where he taught international economic crime as part of the university’s master’s in law program. His teaching focused on a broad range of subjects, including securities fraud, corruption and tax evasion.
