Gowling WLG announced that Alex O’Reilly has joined the firm as an associate lawyer in its Indigenous law team in Montreal.

O’Reilly primarily advises regional and local Indigenous governments, as well as Indigenous economic development corporations and school boards, on a vast array of legal and strategic matters, including issues pertaining to corporate and commercial law, governance and employment and labour law.

O’Reilly has worked on a number of court cases — notably for constitutional matters, and has represented clients before the Court of Quebec, the Superior Court of Quebec, the Court of Appeal of Quebec and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also has a marked interest in injunctive proceedings.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, he practised in a major international law firm as well as in a boutique firm specialized in Indigenous law.

“We are delighted to welcome Alex to our firm in Montreal. He will reinforce the versatility of our Indigenous law group. Thanks to his experience, he will be able to provide cutting-edge legal advice on all aspects of Indigenous law,” said Pierre Pilote, managing partner of Gowling WLG’s Montreal office.
