Fasken announced that Gilles Leclerc has rejoined the firm as counsel, leader of securities knowledge management, as part of the corporate/commercial law group. He will be based at the firm’s Montreal office.

Leclerc returns to the firm after serving as senior director of corporate finance and then superintendent of securities markets and a member of the executive committee of the Autorité des marchés financiers. While so employed, he supervised the development and implementation in Quebec of securities regulations governing capital markets, derivatives and market structures.

“We are very pleased that Gilles has returned to the firm,” said Éric Bédard, managing partner for the Quebec region. “His extensive experience, both as a practitioner and a regulator, will contribute to developing our professionals’ knowledge of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, investment funds and governance.”

According to the firm’s press release, Fasken’s corporate/commercial law group provides clients with advice on all legal matters arising from strategic issues, whether they occur during their day-to-day activities or in connection with complex operations that transform their business.
