McLachlin is Canada’s first female chief justice and longest serving.

Since retiring from the Supreme Court of Canada, McLachlin has pursued her interest in dispute resolution as an arbitrator and mediator, as a member of the Hong Kong Court of Appeal, the Singapore International Commercial Court and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.

McLachlin has received over 35 honorary degrees from universities throughout the world and numerous awards and honours including the Order of Canada.

She is also a regular columnist for The Lawyer's Daily in its free Access to Justice section.
