Canada Revenue Agency extends filing deadlines to Sept. 1 for corporations, trusts

To assist COVID-19-hit businesses and tax preparers, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced May 25 it has extended some filing deadlines for corporations and trusts to Sept. 1, 2020.

The CRA said in a press release it will allow all businesses to defer T2 corporation income tax returns otherwise due in June, July or August, to September 1, 2020. As previously announced, any income tax balances due on, or after, March 18, 2020, and before Sept. 1, 2020, will also be due by Sept. 1, 2020.

The deadlines for T3 trust income tax returns, which would otherwise be due in June, July or August, have also been extended to Sept. 1, 2020. As was previously announced, any income tax balances due on, or after, March 18, 2020, and before Sept. 1, 2020, will also be due by Sept. 1, 2020.
