Dentons announced that it has appointed Toronto partner Mark Evans as national lead of its litigation and dispute resolution group in Canada, and Calgary partner Rachel Howie as deputy lead.

According to the firm’s press release, Evans, who most recently led Dentons’ litigation and dispute resolution group in Toronto, as well as co-leading Dentons’ global fraud and asset recovery group, is a banking and commercial litigation lawyer. He represents Canadian and multinational clients on a variety of complex briefs, including numerous national class actions.

Howie also serves as co-lead for Dentons’ ADR and arbitration group in Canada. Her clients are primarily in the energy, mining and natural resources industries, where she acts as counsel in litigation and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings.

According to the press release, Beth Wilson, Canada CEO at Dentons, said, “Supporting our clients with risk management strategies and protecting their businesses when disputes arise is core to our service offering. I’m delighted that two of our exceptional partners, Mark Evans and Rachel Howie, are stepping into these national leadership roles. These well-regarded leaders will be building on the growth and success set by Gord Tarnowsky during his time as lead, as well as Matthew Fleming, who served in the deputy role. I’m excited to see this new litigation and dispute resolution leadership team help our clients grow and operate their businesses and advise on some of the country’s most high-profile disputes.”
